Springfield City Council
The Springfield City Council is composed of a Mayor and six Councilpersons; all elected at-large. The Council is the governing body of Springfield, and is responsible to the people of the City for the conduct of the governmental functions, business affairs, and services of the City.
The Mayor and each councilmember are elected to serve for a term of four years. At each regular City election, three Council Members are elected, with the Mayor being elected at regular City elections held in odd-numbered years. All regular and special meetings of the council are open to the public and the rules of order of the council provide that citizens shall have reasonable opportunity to be heard. All regular and special meetings are held at the Springfield City Hall at 7:30 PM, unless otherwise indicated.
The City Council appoints a City Manager to manager the daily operations of the City. City Manager Peterson can be contacted during normal business hours.
