In an effort to help people realize what a great place Springfield is to raise a family, retire, work, visit, and invest, we decided to create a video that highlights the great things happening here. We feel this is a great way to help people picture themselves in Springfield!

The City of Springfield is actively pursuing growth opportunities that improve the quality of life of our residents. The above rendering represents an effort underway by the City of Springfield to attract new retail and service outlets to city-owned property at the corner of Helmer Rd (M-37) and Avenue A. This property is in the heart of Springfield, and sees nearly 20,000 vehicles per day. Springfield's Vision and Purpose Statement
The City of Springfield exists to provide small-town responsiveness and large-city quality services to the citizens, businesses, and visitors of Springfield. To that end we hereby announce our intention to provide those services and community oriented problem solving through the maintenance of our own governing autonomy while working cooperatively with our neighboring governments. We recognize that the people we serve are not interruptions to our daily work but are the reason for our existence. Our goal therefore, is to treat all citizens with utmost equality and respect, provide safe housing and businesses, maintain a quality road system, and provide a professional safety services team.
Our motto is “Picture yourself in Springfield.”In an effort to keep our residents, business owners, and visitors updated on some of our efforts to attract and keep residents, businesses, and visitors, we have created the following list of recent and ongoing projects in our great City (also, please review our business list to find a local business to meet your daily needs):
Springfield's Five Year Capital Improvement Plan is set for approval in February 2010. The document outlines more than $5 Million in capital improvements (nearly $3 Million of street improvements). Click here to view the plan
Springfield received $550,000 in grant dollars from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation to improve street and water infrastructure in two neighborhoods. The Springfield Heights and West Lake Woods neighborhoods will realize new street surfaces and a number of water valve replacements. The work in the Heights neighborhood is complete, and the work in West Lake Woods will be completed in the Spring of 2010.
City-wide WiFi is here! Thanks to the efforts for Battle Creek Unlimited, the City of Springfield has received a grant in the amount of $750,000 to install a state-of-the-art wireless internet network in our City! The entire City will have access to this service (even at the parks), and the rates are designed to make it affordable for everyone; all residents will receive the service for only $10per month. Thank you is due to Battle Creek Unlimited, the City of Battle Creek, and the MEDC for their efforts and support throughout this project. Call 1-877-4ACDNET to sign up! or visit their website
Battle Creek Honda is undergoing a multi-million dollar renovation and expansion project that will ensure their long-term commitment to the Magnificent Motor Mile. The project was made possible through a collaborative effort between the City of Springfield, the City of Battle Creek, and Battle Creek Unlimited.
We recently welcomed Kim and Linn's Meat and Cheese Market to town (Goguac Street), and are enjoying new investments by Bill's Pizza Factory, Four Star Mufflers, and Gray's Autobody. Thank you for your investments!
A multi-million dollar investment was just completed at the Express Auto on Dickman Rd.

A previously contaminated site on Dickman has been cleaned and a new hardware store is open! The Do It Center opend its doors in January, and will certainly be a mainstay in our community for quite some time. Check out their website here
Kalsee Credit Union is undertaking the construction of a new branch office on the Magnificent Motor Mile!
Our beautiful new Farmer's Market and professionally-designed disc golf course at Begg Park provide unique recreational opportunities for our residents and visitors. Whether you're looking forward to playing disc golf, purchasing fresh fruits and vegetables, or just relaxing and enjoying nature, there's something for everyone to do here! The Disc Golf World Championships were held at Beg Park in August of 2008.
