Public Works (fulltime).
The City of Springfield is filling a full-time position in the Public Works Department. Candidate must be able to perform a variety of semi-skilled tasks and general construction / maintenance on the City’s range of infrastructure; including buildings, streets, water & storm systems, parks, grounds, cemetery, vehicles, building and facilities. CDL Class B license with air brakes preferred, compensation per Union contract.
Working hours 7:30 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday.

Hydrant Flushing begins Tuesday, May 16, 2023.
The City of Springfield will begin annual fire hydrant flushing on Tuesday, May 16, 2023.
Flushing will be done between 6:30 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Thursday. This process will take 2 - 3 weeks to completely flush the system. During this time cloudiness and discoloration should be expected. Please run cold tap water until the water runs clear. Specific questions regarding hydrant flushing may be directed to Chaz Wilkey, Public service director at (269) 441-9277.
