Vacant City Council Positions

Springfield has three vacant City Council positions  for the November 8, 2022 election. Qualified applicants must be registered to vote in Springfield for one year. Petitions are available at City Hall beginning June 6, 2022 in the city clerk's office. The petition filing deadline is Tuesday, July 26, 2022. MDOT ROAD WORK BEGINS ON M-37 MONDAY,  MAY 2, 2022.

M-37 resurfacing in Battle Creek and Springfield starts Monday
The Michigan Department of Transportation will be investing $4 million to resurface 2.9 miles of M-37 from M-96 to Creekview Drive. Work includes cold milling and hot-mix asphalt resurfacing, concrete curb and gutter, sidewalk ramps, and pavement markings.

Estimated end date: Monday, Oct. 31, 2022
Traffic restrictions: One lane will be open in each direction.
Jobs numbers: Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 51 jobs.
Safety benefit: This work will provide a safer and smoother driving surface and extend the life of the roadway.
